Resilient

Higher Spend and Price Drive
FMCG Value as Household
Consumption Holds

FMCG value grew 4.4% and volume rose 2.0% compared with Q2’25. The volume increase largely reflects the 2.6% growth in the metro population, while average consumption per household slightly declined. Higher average spend and price growth supported the value uplift.
Q2 ’26 improved from the dip seen in Q1 ’26, with FMCG value moving back above Q2 ’25 levels. However, it remains below the stronger levels recorded in the second half of 2025, indicating a positive but still measured recovery.

Summer Demand Strengthened
Across More Categories

Compared with Q2 '25, summer conditions gave FMCG an additional lift in Q2 '26, with refreshment, hydration, cooling dairy and seasonal personal care recording stronger momentum. However, the intensity and drivers of seasonal growth varied significantly across categories and metros.
Summer-sensitive categories such as Ice Creams, Soft Drinks, Sports & Energy Drinks and Yoghurt recorded their strongest volumes during the current summer quarter, highlighting the seasonal uplift in refreshment-led consumption.
Quarterly volume trends across selected seasonal categories | Q1’23–Q2’26
Summer categories are growing through two distinct engines—Ice Creams and Sports & Energy Drinks are expanding by recruiting more households, while Yoghurt stands apart as the only category combining strong household recruitment with higher spend per buyer.
Household Growth vs Average Spend Growth : Q2 ‘25 vs Q2 ‘26
Summer demand is highly localised, with Hyderabad leading the Refreshment and Cooling Dairy clusters, Mumbai outperforming in indulgence-led summer categories, and Kolkata recording the weakest seasonal response across most Refreshment and Grooming categories.
